After the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in Haidian-Beijing (2018) I had the possiblity to join a presstrip to my dream destination Ningxia! We flew in around 1,5 hour from Beijing to the airport of Yinchuan with our tourleader Professor Li Demei from the University of Beijing. He is also a wellknown wineconsultant. It was a great honor for me that we could travel with him! We had a busy and well organised program to visit as much as possible wineries , speak with winemakers and taste wines. It was a great experience. This year the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles will be in Ningxia!
Helan Qingxue Vineyard Since 2005
This winery was founded in 2005 and is focused on premium wines. The results from the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2017: 1 gold and 3 silver medals. We started the tasting with a light oaked Chardonnay, followed by a rosé 2016 Cabernet Franc (Decanter Wine Award Silver). We had an impressive flight of 5 red blends: 2006 dominant Cabernet Sauvignon (spicy and leather), 2008 a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% merlot and 5% carmenere (coffee, vanilla) 2009 Gran Reserva, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon (my favourite, well balanced, elegant, smooth, still some dark black fruit), 2011 Reserve, een blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot and 5% carmenere (elegant, but very young) and we finished with 2014 (blend with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc) dark purple red, a lot of concentration, great future!). After the tasting we visited the barrel cellar and was it possible to sign a barrel.
