Organic wines from all over the world awarded / Fattoria La Vialla is Organic Winery of the Year 2021 / Virtual award ceremony at BIOFACH eSPECIAL

For the twelfth time, the MUNDUS VINI Grand International Wine Award and the world’s leading trade fair BIOFACH organised the MUNDUS VINI BIOFACH Grand International Organic Wine Award competition. As in previous years, the Tuscan Fattoria La Vialla impressed with its outstanding wines and was named Organic Winery of the Year for the seventh time in a row.

A total of 199 organic wines were awarded gold and silver medals by the top-class jury of experts in Neustadt/Weinstrasse. In addition, 11 special awards were presented to the best organic wines in their category. The special awards you will find in the press release as well as at www.meininger.de/en/wein/verkostungen/ergebnisse/mundus-vini-biofach-2021

In addition to the major European wine-growing countries of Germany, Italy, Spain and France, wines from Argentina, Chile and South Africa took part in the competition.

With 62 awards, Spanish organic wines achieved the best overall result, closely followed by organic wines from Italy with 57 awards. 35 organic wines from France and 31 organic wines from Germany completed the quartet of the best countries of origin. Five organic wines each from Austria and Portugal as well as two organic wines each from Chile and South Africa also received awards this year.

Tasting director Christian Wolf: “With almost 500 organic wines from all over the world, the MUNDUS VINI BIOFACH tasting at the beginning of January provides a good overview of the organic wine qualities now coming onto the market. The overall quality level shows, both in the results and in the individual feedback from the expert jury, that we can expect very good wines in the organic wine range this year.”

The Grand International Organic Wine Award MUNDUS VINI BIOFACH is a competition of the Grand International Wine Award MUNDUS VINI open exclusively to certified organic wines from all over the world. It is held in cooperation with BIOFACH according to the international tasting scheme of the OIV. MUNDUS VINI was launched 19 years ago by Meininger Verlag and is one of the most important wine competitions in the world.

The high-class awards ceremony at the annual world-leading trade fair BIOFACH, as well as the presentation and tasting opportunity in the MUNDUS VINI BIOFACH Tasting Area, will be replaced this year by the BIOFACH eSPECIAL. Here the competition will present a selection of the best organic wines digitally and honour the successful wineries by means of a digital awards ceremony, which will be conducted by tasting director Christian Wolf.
