The organic wine industry travels to Millésime Bio

door | 5 feb 2025 | Internationaal

The thirty-second Millésime BIO, the world’s largest organic wine and alcoholic drinks exhibition, has closed after three intense days punctuated by tastings and conversations between producers, marketers and trade buyers.

With 9,500 visits over the three-day event, the Montpellier-based exhibition has been confirmed as the key marketplace for an industry which continues to grow, but currently faces a series of major challenges, including pressure on disposable incomes and geopolitical uncertainties.

Attendance by highly qualified visitors – wine merchants, sommeliers, wholesalers, importers and specialist buyers – from some fifty countries worldwide, offered reassurance about international market dynamics, particularly for French exhibitors focusing on export markets.

AWARDS
LA BIODIVERSITÉ, C’EST MON DOMAINE

The awards list for the second « La biodiversité, c’est mon domaine », competition was presented at Millésime BIO.

Launched last year, the new competition is an initiative by Millésime BIO, in conjunction with Vitisbio magazine, the Hérault chamber of agriculture and the bird protection agency (LPO). It aims to showcase efforts by organic winegrowers to bolster the resilience of winegrowing ecosystems.

In 2025, the organisers were keen to promote the multiple benefits of trees in a winegrowing setting – the creation of an environment conducive to hosting beneficial fauna, adding organic matter to soils, development of single-vineyard micro-climates etc.
