door | 17 mrt 2025 | Nieuws

The winery group joins the world’s leading community of companies committed to the planet and people after undergoing a rigorous certification process

The company has achieved a total score of 88.5 points, making it the highest-rated winery and beverage group in Spain

Raventós Codorníu, which comprises 15 wineries in Spain, Argentina, and California—including Raimat, Legaris, Bodegas Bilbaínas, and Codorníu—has been certified as a B Corp company with a score of 88.5 points. This certification legitimises its active commitment to both the planet and people. This international recognition marks its entry into the global B Corp movement, which is leading the transformation of the world’s economic system towards a more sustainable, inclusive, and fair model. Currently, the B Corp community includes over 9,000 companies across 95 countries and 162 industries, including Patagonia, Danone North America, The Body Shop, Ecoalf, Veja, and Brompton.

For nearly two years, Raventós Codorníu has made a significant collective effort to meet the demanding B Corp standards, ultimately achieving its certification as a B Corp company in 2025. Furthermore, it has become the highest-rated winery and beverage group in Spain (88.5 points), even surpassing many global benchmarks. Raventós Codorníu’s pioneering role in the industry is even more significant considering that the wine sector represents only 1% of the global B Corp movement. This highlights the rigorous nature of B Corp standards while reinforcing the winery group’s leadership and commitment to a responsible and positively impactful business model.

To join this global community dedicated to addressing social issues, protecting the environment, strengthening communities, and creating high-quality jobs with dignity and purpose, companies must undergo a highly rigorous process. This evaluation measures overall business performance across five key impact areas: Workers, Community, Environment, Suppliers, and Customers. To achieve B Corp certification, companies must score over the required threshold of 80 points.

B Corp companies balance purpose and profit, using business as a force for good. This approach is fully aligned with Raventós Codorníu’s roadmap, as its Codorníu cava production has been 100% organic since 2023. The company’s corporate purpose, “Giving soil its value”, reflects its commitment to caring for the land and people through viticulture, contributing to sustainability and social and environmental well-being.

Recognition for Impact on the Land and Viticulturists
The winery group’s business model, focused on organic farming, has been one of the most highly regarded aspects by B Lab, the independent non-profit organization behind the B Corp movement. While sustainability has always been part of Raventós Codorníu’s DNA, the company continues to expand its positive impact on the land and the viticulturist community by minimizing environmental impact and promoting biodiversity in its vineyards.

Additionally, the responsible management of the supply chain and the strong relationships built with grape producers through viticulture further enhance the value and purpose of this model, reinforcing a shared commitment to a common goal. B Lab has also highly valued the centralization and formalization of processes, which have involved nearly all teams within the company. This collective effort has been deemed essential for standardizing internal protocols and establishing unified criteria, particularly in ESG matters.

Joining the B Corp movement gives meaning to our purpose of ‘Giving soil its value’; it serves as a compass to ensure we never lose our way. This B changes everything—it positions us as the best wine company for the world and encourages us to keep improving, ensuring that our positive impact continues to grow. The certification is renewed every three years, so this is just the beginning of the journey”, says Sergio Fuster, CEO of Raventós Codorníu. He adds, “The planet requires companies to take a proactive role, transforming processes, structures, and criteria in the production and commercialization of consumer goods to drive the social and environmental change we need.”

Raimon Puigjaner, President of B Lab Spain, highlights that “the process for Raventós Codorníu to become a B Corp company was not easy. The large number of wineries and employees within the group is a strength, but also a challenge when it comes to implementing actions with truly comprehensive impact. That is why we want to acknowledge the dedication, commitment, and involvement of all teams.” He also emphasizes that “becoming a B Corp company is not just a formality. It is the result of a profound transformation and a genuine commitment to sustainability, transparency, and positive impact.”

Raventós Codorníu has demonstrated outstanding leadership in sustainability over the past year, achieving significant progress in reducing its environmental impact. The company has cut water consumption by 50% compared to 2015 and strengthened its ties with local communities, standing by viticulturists when they needed support the most. In a year severely affected by drought, Raventós Codorníu increased grape prices by 30% compared to last year’s average price. The most notable milestone of the 2023-24 financial year was the full conversion of the Codorníu brand to 100% organic—one year ahead of schedule. These achievements reflect the company’s commitment to sustainable and responsible development across all its operations.
