Changes are in store for the Consorzio Vini Terre di Pisa D.O.C., which has renewed its Presidency and Vice-Presidency. During the latest meeting of the Board of Directors, Ginevra Venerosi Pesciolini of Tenuta di Ghizzano was in fact elected unanimously as the new President. Assisting her, in the role of Vice-President, will be Leonardo Beconcini, of the Pietro Beconcini estate.
The Consortium also presents itself at the beginning of the last three months of the year with a new representative: Riccardo Gabriele, who has taken on the position of coordinator and director of communications.
«Ours» explains newly appointed PresidentVenerosi Pesciolini «is a Consortium founded in 2018 thanks to the goodwill of a group of the area’s historic producers, with the intent of promoting a region that has always made wines of high quality.
The work we have done in these last few years (slowed down by the terrible period of Covid, but nevertheless guided by Nicola Cantoni who has preceded me and to whom I owe great thanks) has allowed us to inform the whole world, thanks to numerous initiatives abroad, about all the great quality expressed by our wineries».
The “Consorzio”’s goal is also to represent to an even greater degree the various characters of a large area such as that of the Province of Pisa. Vice-President Beconcini explains this aspect very clearly: «We are striving to broaden our member base, convinced as we are that the more producers we represent, the stronger the impact of the Consortium’s communications will be as a whole».
There are already a large number of activities planned. Besides participating soon with the Consortium’s own desk at the Pisa Food and Wine Festival (scheduled to take place from Friday 18th to Sunday 20thOctober), its presence has already been organized at the next edition in February of Wine Paris.
«Our objective » declares Riccardo Gabriele, «is to follow the two directions of taking our region to high-level international events, in which we can encourage people to taste and understand the quality of our products, but also allow them to experience personally – thanks to “incoming” trips – the specific characteristics of our areas. In the very near future, we will have both national and international journalists here with us for tastings. Also, we are conducting studies to find out which markets could be receptive to our products».
But the Consortium’s news does not end there. Recently, the changes in the D.O.C. production regulations – which introduced new types of wine – were published in the Official Gazette.
As from 2024, in fact, the following Denominations may be produced: “Terre di Pisa” bianco, “Terre di Pisa” rosso, “Terre di Pisa” rosso riserva, “Terre di Pisa” rosato, “Terre di Pisa” Sangiovese, and “Terre di Pisa”.
«We believe », concludes President Ginevra Venerosi Pesciolini, «that the modification in the regulations is another way of giving added value to our region’s production potential».
