Famiglia Cecchi closes the 2025 harvest under the sign of balance

From Chianti Classico to the Maremma, from Montefalco to Montalcino: the Cecchi Family Estates benefited from stable weather conditions and gradual ripening, yielding healthy grapes of outstanding quality.

Castellina in Chianti, October 2025 – For Famiglia Cecchi, the 2025 harvest comes to a close under the sign of balance and quality. It was a regular, harmonious vintage, free of extremes, one that rewarded sound agronomic decisions and the ability to interpret each terroir with consistency. From the hills of Chianti Classico to the Maremma, from Montefalco to Montalcino, all the estates – Villa Cerna, Villa Rosa, Val delle Rose, Tenuta Alzatura, and Aminta – experienced optimal conditions, with warm, breezy days and cool nights that encouraged gradual grape ripening.

2025: A REGULAR VINTAGE

We can count 2025 among the linear vintages, free from excess,” explains Mira Bracali, Famiglia Cecchi’s Director and Head Winemaker. “Spring rains replenished water reserves, allowing the vines to face a warm yet stable summer. Ripening was slow and even across all the Estates, yielding healthy grapes with a good balance between sugar and acidity.”

“From an agronomic standpoint, the season was favorable in every respect,” adds Piero Sabatino, Director and Agronomist at Val delle Rose and Aminta. “The vines maintained excellent vegetative balance and required no extraordinary intervention.”

“It was a harvest that confirmed the vocation of our territories and the strength of the agronomic practices we have pursued over the years,” concludes Piero Sabatino. “I believe our role today is to understand the time we are living in and express it through our land, our wines, and the people who dedicate themselves to this work every day.”

VAL DELLE ROSE  – MAREMMA TOSCANA

A rainy spring and a balanced summer fostered gradual ripening. Among the white varieties, Vermentino stood out with balanced, aromatic musts destined for Cobalto Maremma Toscana DOC Vermentino Superiore and Litorale Maremma Toscana DOC Vermentino. Among the reds, Merlot for Aurelio Maremma Toscana DOC Rosso and Sangiovese for Rosamante Morellino di Scansano DOCG and Poggio al Leone Morellino di Scansano DOCG Riserva showed excellent ripeness and pristine fruit.

“The vineyards, organically farmed for the past seven years, delivered fruit of remarkable quality,” says Piero Sabatino. “The white wines stand out for their intense aromas and aromatic complexity, while the reds show impressive structure and a full expression of varietal character.”

VILLA CERNA AND VILLA ROSA – CHIANTI CLASSICO

In Chianti Classico, the harvest began in early September, ending on September 20 at Villa Rosa and October 4 at Villa Cerna. At Villa Cerna, the Sangiovese harvest was spread out over time, following the ripening pattern of each parcel. Grapes were healthy, juicy, and well-balanced in their acid profile. At Villa Rosa, grapes destined for Chianti Classico DOCG Gran Selezione Villa Rosa and Ribaldoni Chianti Classico DOCG immediately showed great balance and aromatic finesse.

The Sangiovese from Villa Cerna and Villa Rosa expressed truly remarkable quality,” notes Mira Bracali. “The macerations showed excellent extractive potential, with deep color, structure, and body. The skins – especially in the selections – were thick and crisp, staying that way through racking. It’s a good sign for complex, elegant, long-lived wines.

TENUTA ALZATURA – MONTEFALCO

In Umbria, too, the harvest went smoothly. A rainy spring gave way to a dry summer, followed by heavy rains in August and a drop in temperatures. These conditions helped the vines regain vegetative balance, producing compact clusters with thicker skins, an indication of excellent phenolic maturity.

The Sagrantino is of outstanding quality, with an intense aromatic profile and well-integrated tannins,” says Alessandro Mariani, Director and Agronomist at Tenuta Alzatura. The Trebbiano Spoletino, the last to be harvested and the variety behind the Aria di Casa and Cortili labels – both Montefalco Bianco DOC – showed notable freshness and structure, with natural acidity and impressive aging potential.

AMINTA – MONTALCINO

Harvest ran from 19 September to 1 October across the estate’s three vineyards– Cantina, Caselle, and Pian Bossolino – each harvested separately to preserve its individual character. The Sangiovese grapes, destined for Aminta Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and Rosso di Montalcino DOC, were loose-clustered, with plump, juicy berries in perfect condition.

“Favorable weather, with sunny days and well-distributed rainfall, supported steady, complete ripening,” comments Piero Sabatino. “Our first impressions suggest an excellent vintage, destined to produce wines of notable elegance and personality.”
