Tre decenni di visione, sperimentazione sostenibile e identità nel cuore della Maremma Toscana
Poggio La Mozza, May 2026 – Famiglia Cecchi celebrates 30 years of Val delle Rose, the Maremma estate acquired in 1996 in Poggio La Mozza, in the municipality of Grosseto. Born from a pioneering vision, at a time when the Tuscan coast was still shaping its own wine-making language, the estate has become one of the most recognisable expressions of the Tuscan Maremma. On the occasion of this anniversary, the family reaffirms its commitment to interpreting this territory through wines that combine Mediterranean identity, expressive freshness and commitment to sustainability.
PIONEERS IN THE MAREMMA
When Famiglia Cecchi decided to invest in the Maremma, the region was still in an early phase of its wine-making journey. The choice of Poggio La Mozza came from a careful assessment of the territory’s potential: land with outstanding viticultural vocation, proximity to the sea and a favourable microclimate for viticulture. From the very beginning, these factors allowed the estate to shape a fresh, authentic vision of the Maremma, producing wines that speak clearly and immediately of the Tuscan coast.
Over time, the estate has combined the great classics of the Maremma – first and foremost Morellino di Scansano and Vermentino – with red-grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Ciliegiolo. Today, it also offers a selection of fresh, aromatic rosés and whites, designed to broaden the Cecchi portfolio: Calipte Rosé, made from pure Sangiovese; Caprifoglio Viognier; and the newly released Lobelia, made from Vermentino, Trebbiano, and Chardonnay grapes.
A VISION THAT CONTINUES TO EVOLVE
“Thirty years ago, we chose the Maremma because we had sensed its potential: a land still in evolution, capable of offering ideal soil and climate conditions and an extraordinary freedom of interpretation. Val delle Rose was born from this vision: working the vineyards, respecting the authentic character of the territory and building, harvest after harvest, wines that combine identity, precision and pleasure”, declares Andrea Cecchi, President and CEO of Famiglia Cecchi.
Thirty years of Val delle Rose mean thirty years of listening to the land, of responsible experimentation and continuous growth. Today, the estate covers 186 hectares in total, of which over 100 are under vine, farmed under certified organic practices since the 2021 harvest. The winery, inaugurated in 2011, was designed to make the most of the work carried out in the vineyard and today also serves as a welcoming venue nestled in the Maremma countryside. Through visits, tastings and curated hospitality experiences, guests can discover the estate first-hand and connect with an unspoilt landscape – and with wines deeply rooted in their place of origin.
THE FRESHER SIDE OF THE MAREMMA
The 30th anniversary also marks a new phase of evolution for Val delle Rose and for several Cecchi labels inspired by the fresher, more versatile soul of the Maremma. Alongside Caprifoglio Viognier Maremma Toscana DOC and Calipte Toscana IGT Rosé, made from pure Sangiovese, 2026 marks the arrival of Lobelia Toscana IGT Bianco, a blend of Vermentino, Trebbiano and Chardonnay grapes designed to express aromatic freshness, sapidity and effortless drinkability.
Calipte and Lobelia also share a bright, contemporary look, with digital designs printed directly onto the glass using organic inks. The result is packaging that feels distinctive and carefully considered, while also supporting a more sustainable approach: no heavy metals are used, and the bottle remains fully suitable for glass recycling.
With this new narrative, Famiglia Cecchi renews its bond with the Maremma and confirms its desire to interpret all its nuances, from the most identity-driven reds to the most versatile and contemporary whites and rosés.
